“Visit Nuclear Power Plant, Enjoy Nuclear Power Culture” was the theme of “August 7th -the public open day” in 2016. Experience activities were carried out in 7 nuclear power plants of CGN. This year, CGN gathered news spokesmen from 7 nuclear power plants including TSNP to convene a press conference on August 6th, which demonstrated open attitude and the pursuit of transparency.
Huang Xiaoping, news spokesman of TNPJVC, presented a series of measures taken by TNPJVC in terms of transparency. After the press conference, Huang Xiaoping exchanged in an interview with Jiangmen Television Stations and Jiangmen Daily about TNPJVC’s efforts in the communication with the public.
On August 7th, over 60 senior high school students from Taishan Overseas Chinese Middle school listened to the stories told by Zhang Changhai in Room D101 of Training Center. Zhang Changhai from Planning Department was the first group of students graduated from Sino-French Institute of Nuclear Engineering & Technology, Sun Yat-sen University. As a member of TNPJVC, he shared the experience of college entrance examination and how he made up his mind to choose TNPJVC. Most importantly, he shared his learning methods integrated with the core value of CGN “Doing things right in one go”. The collection notebook of mistakes made in homework and examinations was one of his magic keys in study, which happened to be consistent with strong experience feedback system of TNPJVC.
“With passion and dream, let’s write a postcard for ourselves in the future.” After the sharing, students opened the postcards distributed by the staff and wrote on their favorite ones. Those postcards would be sent by TNPJVC on the date students expected. And some time in the future those postcards will help students to review their dreams and this moment.
It was part of the activities for “August 7th -the public open day” in 2016. There were also visits to the site, public exhibition hall and pioneering road of TSNP. In addition, a total of over 130 people, including teachers and students, netizens from Jiangmen, cadres from Chixi town and representatives of the local communities participated in the activities for the public open day.
Unlike the students, representatives of netizen from Jiangmen, cadres and people from the local communities took the course of HERT (human error reduction technique) tool cards training course for nuclear power plant with safety culture features. The instructors introduced theories and divided the trainees into groups to experience three tool cards, including communication in three steps, STAR (stop-think-act-review) and usage of procedure. The interesting experience made visitors curious and left profound impression on them about TSNP’s pursuit of safety and careful management.
At the public exhibition hall, the public visited the unit models, learned more about nuclear power and won small prizes in the Q&A. On the visit platform at site, they had a close look at NI and CI. They were so excited that everyone wanted to take a photo with TSNP.
Moreover, a new spot was added for this year’s public visit—the starting point of pioneering road of TSNP. With the further information told by staff and close visit to the site, every one learned profoundly the hardship and difficulties to construct nuclear power project.
