In Training Center of TSNP, three training instructors delivered classic training course of “HERT (human error reduction technique) tool cards” to the representatives of the public from Jiangmen and Taishan.

It was a compulsory course for the operation staff of nuclear power plant. In the activities for the public open day, the course was simplified based on targets and time limit but core content reserved. 6 tool cards of HERT introduced by instructor Zhou Qianchao drew every one’s attention immediately. Why nuclear power plants pay so much attention to these tool cards? How to use them?

In the skill training room, the visitors participated in the practice of three tool cards “usage of procedure”, “STAR (stop-think-act-review)” and “communication in three steps” in three groups.

Mr. Ou from Taishan participated in “STAR”. With the guidance of the instructor, Mr. Ou was confused about what to do with the operation process in hand at the beginning. He tried to use“STAR” in an order of “stop, think, act, review”, and finally avoided the errors effectively and completed the simulation task. He said “These were useful tools. I thought these tools could be applied in daily life apart from nuclear power plant. I would resort to “STAR” when encountered things uncertain and I would recommend these tools to colleagues.”
