It is time for blood donation this year. In the morning of September 7th, a blood donation bus slowly drove into TNPJVC as last year, attracting totally more than 110 donors in a long queue from units such as TNPJVC, squadron of armed police, fire brigade, Huantong Traffic Company, HXCC and GPEC. They followed the blood donation process in order from registration, blood test to blood drawing.
“Contribution and competition, achieved in one way”
Zhang Feng from Electrical Department, has been preparing for transformer skill competition organized by CGN, took out learning materials and read carefully in the queue. As a keen blood donor, he has donated blood with friends for 6 years in a row. He said: “I just do what I can do for the society and I will be very happy that someday my little help can make others feel warm.”
Blood donation for the first time
“It is really scared!” said Huang Yanxia from Supervision and Audit Department when asked about her feeling of the first blood donation. Overwhelmed by tension and relax, she felt time flied really slowly in the queue. But at the moment of injecting her vessel, she felt “not that painful as imagined”. The past zero experience of blood donation due to cold was made up eventually. She said: “I often hear about emergent request for blood. And blood donation does no harm to ourselves and gives others great help instead. So why not?”
A special birthday gift
Wu Wanying from Contract and Procurement Department took a picture with Huang Yanxia beside the bus and kept it as a keepsake. Different from Huang Yanxia, Wu Wanying was calm as it was her fourth time to donate blood, but felt a little excited as it was a “planned birthday gift” for herself on September 7th. Blood donation came to her mind the moment she planned an extraordinary gift for herself. Because giving makes life different!
Look who we have!
A bunch of handsome guys are here! Firefighters of the plant and armed police stationed here participated in the blood donation, making the blood donation group more vigorous.
Instructor Liao from armed police camp said the police were very active when learnt about the blood donation here. “More people would have come if the seating capacity of today’s bus is larger!” In fact, many other police wanted to come, but instructor Liao persuaded them not to because he concerned that the military assessment next day would be affected. “Our police are to protect our homes and defend our country. Where there is a need, there are us. Blood donation is another way!”
The world will be better for love given. In July, TNPJVC was appraised as “Advanced Unit of Voluntary Non-remunerated Blood Donation from 2014 to 2015” at 2016 annual voluntary non-remunerated blood donation meeting held in Taishan. Since 2012, TNPJVC has organized voluntary non-remunerated blood donation every year, and gathered 63100 ml blood in total until now as per statistics, which contributed to improve the shortage of blood for clinical use in Taishan.
