Taishan Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co., Ltd. (TNPJVC),is mainly in charge of financing, construction, operation and management of Taishan Nuclear Power Station Phase I and is liable for the final nuclear safety of the project. On December 11th 2009, TNPJVC obtained the Certificate of Approval for Establishment of Enterprises with Foreign Investment issued by Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China upon the approval of the Joint Venture.

Taishan Nuclear Power Station is located in Chixi Town of Taishan City, Guangdong Province, China. Six pressurized water nuclear power units are planned. The third generation EPR (European Pressurized Water Reactor) technology is adopted for two units of Phase I project, each with a single-unit capacity of 1750MW. The operation of the project will contribute to the reduction of approximately 8.08 million tons of coal equivalent consumption, as well as over 21.09 million tons of greenhouse gas emission each year. TSNP Phase I achieved all-round technology transfer with Sino-French joint efforts in design and construction.
